New Eridu did not take January off. Version 1.4 is still live, and HoYoverse already dated the next full drop: Version 1.5, Astra-nomical Moment, launches January 22, 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, PC, iOS, and Android. If you only track premium launches, ZZZ is easy to skip. If you track action-first live RPGs, this is the check-in point: finish 1.4 now, or wait a week for the concert patch.
What Is Live, and What 1.5 Adds
Version updates here are full product beats, not hotfix weeks. New agents change real-time squad routes overnight. Story chapters, limited events, and combat modes arrive on the same cadence as Genshin and Star Rail, just faster and louder. Version 1.4, A Storm of Falling Stars, launched December 18 with Hoshimi Miyabi, a free Asaba Harumasa, Port Elpis, Reverb Arena, and Hollow Zero: Shadows Lost. The bigger systems change was the Main Story dropping TV mode for actual combat and exploration. That is the current patch, and it ends when 1.5 goes live. Version 1.5 is the January hook. HoYoverse announced it on January 10: Astra Yao takes the Starloop stage, Proxies get pulled into a concert story that does not stay under the lights, and the patch adds Endless Tower: The Last Stand, Perpetrator Battle, and the Mach 25 arcade cabinet. Fishing, a Bangboo pageant, and new Agent outfits ride along. The January 10 teaser also puts Evelyn next to Astra as the other new face. You do not need every 1.x chapter cleared. You need a reason to reopen the launcher. 1.5 is that reason if you bounced after launch week.
Why It Matters Right Now
ZZZ is HoYoverse's action pillar: squad combat, urban fantasy, no open-world hiking and no turn-based downtime. January 22 is a clean return date because it is a named version with a new story episode, not a random banner week. The catch is the same as the rest of the catalog. Gacha pacing and event calendars are the business. Miyabi already proved a single agent can warp the meta. Astra and Evelyn will do it again for a week, then the next patch will do it again.
Worth Coming Back?
Yes, if you like fast squad combat and want the next story beat without waiting for a boxed sequel. No, if you already resent HoYoverse event cadence or gacha banners. A concert patch will not fix that. Go to the official website to check things out!
