Official Diablo Opening Ceremonies recap Diablo V: Forging the Next Era BlizzCon 2026 hub
BlizzCon 2026 put Diablo at the center of the show: a new mainline game, a same-week season launch, a 2027 class pack, a Switch 2 release, and a Netflix series. This is the MinMax snapshot of what Blizzard locked in for Sanctuary.

Diablo V: Sanctuary has fallen
The premise is the hook. Heroes failed. Diablo won. You enter a Sanctuary already under the Lord of Terror, not a world waiting for the final boss fight.
Blizzard's early pitch from the Forging the Next Era panel:
- You play as the Heir to Westmarch, on the run through a kingdom turned into an outpost of Hell
- Diablo rules from Westmarch and uses Sanctuary's people and souls as weapons in the Eternal Conflict
- The Western Continent is the heart of that reign
- The world is unstable: procedural landscape shifts in terrain, points of interest, monsters, and rewards when you return
- Survival is a caravan of allies who travel with you as vendors and companions, not a string of safe towns
First classes revealed
- Demon Hunter: twin crossbows, shadow strikes, leap-and-delete fantasy
- Monk: fists, martial pressure, holy smite
- Plague Knight (new): disease and pestilence as power, "walking death" fantasy

Loot direction
Item talk leaned Classic again: readable gear, inventorable size mattering, gear-based sets, crafting inspired by Lord of Hatred, and Diablo II-style Runes and Runewords experiments. Treat that as design intent early in development, not a locked live-game patch note.
Season of Hell's Legacy (Diablo IV)
This is the 30-years-of-Diablo season. Deckard Cain's lost soul returns to guide a run against the Prime Evils. You confront Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo, reclaim splinters of their souls, and bear one Splinter to take a portion of that power. Blizzard's warning is the season fantasy: no demonic gift comes free.
Story geography callbacks called out in coverage include Tristram Cathedral (Diablo), Arreat Summit (Baal), and the Durance of Hate (Mephisto). Expect the live season blogs to keep expanding exact activities, rewards, and build tools after the What's Next trailer pass.

Amazon class pack (2027)
The Amazon returns to Diablo IV in the first half of 2027. She is from Skovos, already teased in Lord of Hatred space.
Preserved fantasy: disciplined, athletic, trained warrior. Rebuild for Diablo IV across four archetypes:
- Champion
- Skirmisher
- Ranger
- Commander
Weapons: returning bow plus javelin. Javelin is a new weapon type for Diablo IV. Full class-pack commercial details come later.
Diablo IV on Nintendo Switch 2
Hell lands on Switch 2 the same day the season starts. The Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection arrives September 15 and bundles:
- Base Diablo IV
- Vessel of Hatred
- Lord of Hatred
That is the portable entry point into Nahantu, Skovos, and the new season week.
Diablo animated series on Netflix
Blizzard and Netflix are developing an animated series set in the Diablo world. No episode count, showrunners, or date yet. Park it as confirmed in development, then wait for the real trailer cycle.
