After 21 years of Raiding, Dungeons and PvP, the 12th release in the well known game World of Warcraft and the second part of the World Soul Saga, has had its official release on GamesCom 2025, Opening Night Live. For those who might have missed the World of Warcraft: Midnight Cinematic you should certainly watch it back and realise what is coming. After just a single year of The War Within Release, and only weeks after Ghost of K'aresh went live, the hype for WoW Midnight is already starting!

World of Warcraft: Midnight does not have a set release date yet, but Blizzard has stated it will be early 2026 and the Midnight Pre-Order Page shows that it will release at or before June 30th, 2026.

The Battle for Silvermoon

Lady Liadrin showed off her examplary leadership skills in Legion, when she answered Prophet Vele's call to war. Joining forces with the Draenei army at Exodar, setting off on The Vidicaar towards the planet Argus, she was a crucial part to finding back the people now known as Lightforged Draenei. Nowdays, Lady Liadrin is a vital part of the Silvermoon Army and is one of few truly trusted by Regent Lord Lor'themar Theron. In the cinematic for World of Warcraft: Midnight, it shows Liadrin, who claims herself not to be worthy, for aid to protect her people who certainly are!

The aid she needs, is of course against the Harbinger: Xal'Atath, one of the primevals of World of Warcraft: The War Within, and the direct cause of World of Warcraft: Midnight.

Zones, Raids, Dungeons and Delves

When World of Warcraft: Midnight comes out, we will be graced not by one, and not even two, but three raids! Although two of them are fairly small, with only one and two bosses, we will be getting nine bosses in total. We also will have eight new dungeons and eleven new Delves to explore spread out over the four new zones.

Zones:

  • Quel'Thalas: A forested area in nothern Lordaeron, both The Ghostlands and Eversong Woods (originally, Eversong Forest) are part of the ancient kingdom of Quel'Thalas. This will be a rework of Eversong Woods and The Ghostlands. This might also mean a new starting area for the Blood Elves!
  • Zul'Aman: The capital of the ancient Amani Tribe trolls, located in the South Easth portion of Quel'Thalas originally. Once a raid within The Burning Crusade Expansion, then later turned into a dungeon in Cataclysm. Now, this will be a full fledged zone in World of Warcraft: Midnight!
  • Harandar: A vast primordial jungle and the home of the Haranir; a new allied race unlocking later in the World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion.
  • The Voidstorm: A mysterious and distant, void shaped world where around every corner, a threat roams. But new allies, might also linger in the shadows.

Raids:

  • The Voidspire: The first raid of Midnight and the stronghold of Xal'atath containing six bosses.
  • The Dreamrift: A secondary raid with only one boss, part of the same tier, expected to be half way through the difficulty of The Voidspire.
  • March on Quel'Danas: Also part of the same tier, but releasing a few weeks later. With some difficulty increase compared to The Voidspire, and adding two more bosses to the mix.

Dungeons:

  • Windrunner Spire: Explore the haunted halls of Windrunner Spire in the Ghostlands and uncover the tragic history of the Windrunner sisters.
  • Magister's Terrace: Magister’s Terrace returns, challenging you to unleash unstable magic against the Void.
  • Murder Row: Journey into Silvermoon’s Murder Row, where Blood Elves harbor forbidden relics and dark demons.
  • The Den of Nalorakk: Prove yourself in the trials of the Loa of War and face Nalorakk in a brutal showdown.
  • Maisara Caverns: Stop the Vilebranch trolls’ twisted rituals and rescue the Witherbark captives.
  • The Binding Veil: Cut through the Binding Veil’s rampant growth before it overruns Silvermoon.
  • Voidscar Arena: Survive waves of cosmic monsters in the Voidscar Arena for your captor’s amusement.
  • Nexus-Point Xenas: Assault a Void tower to disrupt the storm and turn the tide of the Midnight campaign.

Delves: (Not much is know about the new Delves yet, check back later for updated information)

  • Atal’Aman
  • Collegiate Calamity
  • The Darkway
  • The Grudge Pit
  • The Gulf of Memory
  • Parhelion Plaza
  • Shadowguard Point
  • The Shadow Enclave
  • Sunkiller Sanctum
  • Twilight Crypts
  • Torment’s Rise: The new Nemesis Delve

Player Housing

After two centuries of roaming Azeroth, the World of Warcraft finally allows us to own our own house. In Midnight, (or earlier for those who preorder) a new evergreen feature will go live. A feature who will never be finished as new content will be coming out regularly.

Your house will be in a Neighborhood. Within these Neighborhoods, multiple players will have a house, and who they are, is dictated by the type of Neighborhood you chose to be part off. Friends, Guildmates or just players with a shared interest. Neighborhoods will also offer shared activities and benefits.

Player housing is supposed to go live (for Midnight preorders) during the 11.2.7 patch, in the winter of 2025. So if you preorder the new World of Warcraft expansion, you will be able to enjoy this feature already this year!

New Demon Hunter Specialization: Devourer

After many speculation during the 11.2 Manaforge Omega Raid, Demon Hunters will indeed be getting a 3rd speccialization. Devourer Demon Hunters will not be using fel energy. Instead they are using the Void, to fight the Void! Unleashing mid-ranged Void abilities by ripping fragments straight from their enemies. This also ties in well with the new unlock of Void-Elves being able to be Demon Hunters now! Image for the new Devourer Demon Hunter specialization in World of Warcraft: Midnight

New Feature: Prey

A new system and feature in World of Warcraft: Midnight, is sending you out into the world to Prey (or be Preyed upon). This PvE feature is meant to increase the challenge of your world content. Send out top hunrt powerful targets by Astalor Bloodsworn, you will progress through three increasing difficulties.

Normal will be the introductory and helps you learn about the new Prey feature. Hard gives you a confined final encounter, including torments and affixes. Nightmare is the most punishing and meant to challenge you the most, and is most likely to turn you into the prey.

New Allied Race: Haranir

After completing their quests in the new Harandar zone, the Haranir will (later in World of Warcraft: Midnight) unlock as the latest Allied Race. At the moment there is no confirmation if this will be an Allied Race for The Alliance or for The Horde, with some specculation it will be a neutral race and will be playable by both factions, much like the Pandaren from World of Warcraft: Mist of Pandaria. Some racials for the Haranir have been revealed already:

  • Innate Critical Strike damage and healing bonuses. Making it a nice bonus for Critical Strike builds.
  • Damage against Abberation increased, as well as damage taken from Abberation reduced.
  • A targeted AoE that will heal allies and damage enemies.
  • Dark Iron Dwarf Mole Machine like fast travel, from and too World Tree roots. Probably not Teldrassil, though... Image for the new Allied Race: Haranir, unlocking later in World of Warcraft: Midnight

Other noteworthy changes

Some more intersting and noteworthy smaller changes, are adjustments to PvP, transmog, class/race options and interface changes.

  • Transmog will be free of cost.
  • Transmog will have an Auto swap function on certain conditions.
  • There is a new PvP Battleground, more on this will be revealed later.
  • Void Elves can now be Demon Hunters, tying in with the lore of Devourer Demon Hunter specialization.
  • Demon Hunter Hero Talents will be adjusted, now that they have a 3rd spec.
  • Ten new talent points (3 class, 3 hero and 4 in the spec tree).
  • The Hero Talent Trees get an extra column.
  • The Spec trees get a special talent that is supposed to be very powerful, and you will be able to put all four talents in there.
  • Class/Spec resources will be added to Edit Mode, with proper support to track things.
